Welcome To Earth David

A short while ago I wrote that I was moving on to my new domain at www.hotdavid.com.  Today I am making it official by weeding through all of my posts here at this site and deleting unimportant things and moving things I wish to save to the new site.  I won’t be keeping a personal blog over there for awhile but I will be setting up a “homepage” for myself somewhere in the site where I’ll be storing content I feel is worth keeping.  I will keep this blog updated on my progress as I get myself settled in at the new place.

Today I am officially closing this site down. I will no longer be posting to this blog. You can find me at my new location over at www.hotdavid.com the new home of David’s Hat Factory and Welcome To Earth David Blog.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be working on moving any posts I made to this blog over to the new one and then once that is done I’ll continue on blogging new stuff.

I think the new site is going to be much better for my hat shop and hopefully the new domain name will attract more visitors.

Been a long time since I updated this blog.  It’s been a busy winter for me I guess with starting the new biz, working, and tending to my video game addictions and other things I’ve been into.  I guess another reason why I haven’t been updating this blog that much lately is because I am really not very sure about the future of this blog now.  My renewal fee for the hosting plan for this domain is coming up in November this year and it’s going to cost a little more than I really care to pay unless things change for me financially.

Anyway, I am not writing to discuss the future of this blog. I am actually writing because I wanted to tell about my new toy that I bought just recently. For a long time I have been wanting a portable game system so that I could have “games on the go”. I couldn’t make up my mind between the Sony PSP or the Nintendo DS Lite. Recently a new game was developed that I really wanted to play and since the game wasn’t developed for the Nintendo Wii, which I already had, I had two choices… I could wait and buy the pc version and play the game on my laptop, or I could buy the Nintendo DS Lite and play it on that. I decided to get the Nintendo DS Lite and I am so happy that I did. It is a really fun game system and I am discovering that there are a lot of puzzle games available for it which is great for me because I really love puzzle games. I also like some racing games so I am thinking about getting Mario Kart soon.

Anyway that is really all I had to say. To those of you on Entrecard who still drop by now and then to drop your cards and buy adverts I really appreciate it and I apologize for not updating more often, but like I said I don’t really know if this blog is something I want to keep going or what right now. I guess you can say this blog is on an intermittent hiatus for awhile until I figure things out. It is quite possible that I may move this blog to a new domain that won’t cost as much in the future. Hey everyone!!! Sorry I haven’t been posting much here lately. I’ve been pretty busy working on getting my beanie shop going. Yes, I have finally come up with a name for the shop and I have purchased the website for it and I am currently setting it all up and hopefully it will be up and running by or before New Year’s Day 2009. I call it JUSSBYOO BEANIE SHOP. JussBYoo is a word I made up that is a short way of saying just be yourself, and it is also my own personal brand name for the hand made items I make myself that I’ll be selling there.

Just a heads up… I have posted a new page with a list of some useful firefox extensions I use. I thought some of you might find them useful as well if you don’t already use them.

Just a quick notice to let you all know I have a new blog in addition to this site. I call it “Man Planet - The Hottest Men On Earth According To Me The Number 1 Man Fan”. Nothing to brag about really. It’s just another male photo blog. As if there aren’t already a million of them all over the internet. Awhile back I published a list of my remix collection. Today I have updated that list. Since I am a huge remix addict, my collection grows bigger and bigger everyday. My list has gotten so big that I had to create a new page for it. For now I simply call it My Remix Collection. Simple enough I guess. I have been collecting remixes for about five years or so and burning them onto cd-r’s and dvd-r’s and putting them into storage because I didn’t have an mp3 player to listen to them on, but a couple of years ago I bought a cd player that could play mp3 cd’s and so I had to start sorting through all the mp3’s I had and from that, what started out from around 200 remixes has now grown to 786 of some of the most awesome dance music contained in a very cool 8GB Sansa Fuze mp3 player that I own. Now, I know some of you are probably going to wonder or may want to ask where do I get my remixes from. Well I will give you one source in this post to start from. It is a blog called Dance Music Forever. Go there and download some cool remixes for yourself and then check out the links on that blog to find even more.

I got up at 9:30 a.m. today and started working on a new beanie cap design. I have been wanting to do a cap like this for quite sometime but I never could find a pattern that worked out well for me, so I made up my own design and this is what I came up with. By the way, yes that is me modeling the hat. Anyway, I wanted a design that could be made up for a guy or a girl depending on yarn color and I think I hit it right the first time. I didn’t exactly get the size down perfect on this first cap prototype, but it is very close and I can get the size down better when I make more of these. Also the burgandy yarn wasn’t my color choice to make this cap, but it was a good scrap yarn to use for trying this out and it is a nice color anyway so whatever. I think once I get this beanie perfected it will be a nice addition to my cap inventory when I open my shop.

Well I just wanted to show off this new cap I made up today. I gotta get outside now and go cut my grass. It is looking like it might rain and I don’t have much time to get my grass cut before the rain falls. Oh, just to add this… I have been doing some major yarn stash busting still. I’ve made about four or five more tam hats since I posted the hat and scarf picture a few days ago. I will try to get a picture of the new tams up for you to see later this afternoon after I have mowed my lawn.

My remix collection is growing bigger and bigger every day. Today I added 386 new remixes to my 8GB Sansa Fuze MP3 Player. I now have a total of 786 remixes to carry with me wherever I go. Some may find this boring as hell. Some may say that I have absolutely no life at all. Yesterday was my 38th birthday and I celebrated it by staying at home watching television and working on my craft projects. I have been doing a lot of yarn stash busting so I knitted scarfs all day. I had thought about going out to do some shopping, but then I couldn’t think of anything I needed so I just turned on the tv and sat in my living room knitting. I played my video games as well. I’m still very much into Puzzle Quest so I spent a couple of hours playing that game. All in all my birthday was alright but I’m feeling kinda cheated though because I didn’t go out and buy myself anything. I always buy myself something for my birthday. It has been a tradition for me since my very first job in 1988 to buy myself something for my birthday, so I may have to go on a little shopping trip today. Maybe I’ll go to Gamestop and see if there are any cool used games on the rack. Or maybe I’ll just stay at home again today and knit some more. Who knows?

I found this video on YouTube as I was searching for videos of men knitting. Why would I be searching youtube for videos of men knitting you say? Because I want the haters in the world with closed minds to see that knitting is not just a hobby for women…… that, and I was looking for content I could possibly add to my shop when I get it online.

I just checked over at my webhost’s site and noticed they are having a labor day sale on their website hosting packages. I would really love to take advantage of that sale for my new craft business I’m planning to start up…. but the only thing holding me back is the fact that I haven’t yet come up with a cool and catchy name for my little knit and hemp jewelry shop.

You guys don’t know it because I haven’t really talked much about it, but I’ve been spending a lot of time getting all of my craft supplies organized and working on creating new stuff to go into my online shop………… Ok, I just told a lie…. actually I’ve been doing a lot of knitting and crocheting to make new scarfs in between pulling boxes out of my supply room trying to get my craft supplies organized. I had meant to do the organizing first but everytime I pulled a box out of the room I got new ideas for stuff I wanted to make and so the organizing part got put aside…. now I have a living room full of boxes scattered all over the floor and there are multiple unfinished knitting and crocheting projects lieing around waiting to be finished….. All of this is because over the past few weeks since I started my money saving crusade I decided that it was time for me to get back into my beloved craft business and well I’ve gone absolutely crazy with it trying to do everything I need to do all at once to get back into it. So things are a little crazy in my house right now…. but it is ok. I am having a lot of fun getting back into my crafts and plans for the new business.

So anyway, the sale at Powweb is only gonna last for two more days. So I’ve got to think of a name for the business pretty quick if I’m gonna take advantage of that sale which would give me a year of hosting for around $50 dollars which isn’t bad. If I can’t think of a name for the business before the sale runs out I’m just gonna hold off on buying to domain until the next time they run a sale. To be honest I am really nowhere near ready to kick off a new site for the business but it would be nice to take advantage of that sale and at least already have the domain for when I am ready to start.

I discovered something really cool today and I want to share my discovery. Today as I was finishing up in the bathroom after my shower I was putting on my deoderant and as it always happens I got to the bottom of the tube and the little bit that was left over popped out and fell onto the floor. Well I got mad and started thinking that there must be a way to save that little bit of deoderant to use instead of throwing it away time after time. So I did a google search and I found the answer to my problem here.

Who would have ever guessed that you can melt your deoderant in a microwave and pour it into another deoderant tube and that it only takes a few minutes to do it!? I can personally say that this works because I tried it myself. I use Axe Vice deoderant and it melted perfectly and poured into a new deoderant tube very easily. I do have a word of caution for you if your going to do this. Melted deoderant is very hot and that little bit left in the tube melts very quickly. Be very careful when pouring into another deoderant tube. I must say this is a very smart idea and I guarantee there won’t be any more wasted deoderant in this house…… Oh yes, and another word of caution for all of you people who may be a little retarded when it comes to using common sense….. this does not work with spray can deoderants so don’t be putting any spray cans in your microwave.

Well it’s been three weeks now since I started my crusade to get back on the money saving track and I am happy to say that I have been doing fairly well. I can’t say exactly how much money I have saved but I can say that I have cut back a whole lot on spending money in general. In three weeks I have only allowed myself to buy one or two used Nintendo Wii games, one or two t-shirts, and only one trip to the lake which is where I went today. I have a star system I go by on my wall calendar to keep up with how well I’m doing at saving my money. On days that I don’t spend any money at all I put a red star on the calendar for that day. I started this crusade eighteen days ago and I have thirteen stars on the calendar during that time period. These red stars also indicate days that I stayed home. Thirteen out of eighteen days is a lot of time for someone like me to be staying cooped up at home and not going anywhere. I have been making the most of that time however by finding things around home to do such as playing my video games, trying to complete things on my to do list, blogging, getting back into my arts and crafts, exercising and working out, going for walks, and watching television. Over the past three weeks I’ve started getting a little used to staying at home more and I am finding out that it isn’t all that bad as long as I find things to keep myself busy and keep reminding myself that the goal is not to get out and go somewhere where I would be tempted to make a lot of unnecessary purchases. I am also learning to feed myself at home and stop driving somewhere to eat all the time. I am noticing lately that the price of gas is coming down a little. Gas was $3.38 per gallon today. That is a whole lot better than what it has been costing most of this summer and that will help me save a little money as well. Anyway, like I said, I don’t know how much I have saved over the past three weeks and if I did I wouldn’t tell the amount here in my blog but I can say that I have saved a good bit compared to how much I wasn’t saving before when I was spending irresponsibly. Let’s see how well I do over the next three weeks.

I don’t get to go to the post office as often as I like these days since I am really trying to cut back on my driving to save money. Today however was a necessary day to get out and run some errands, so I decided to stop by the post office to check my mail. I was delighted to find two postcards in my box. The top one is a view of Washington D.C. and the bottom one has a beautiful artistic drawing of San Francisco, California scenery. Thank you Rich, whoever you may be and wherever you may be for sending these. It really made my day today after being stuck at home all week. My favorite one is the San Francisco card with the cable car and view of Alcatraz.
