Monday Muscle Madness Volume 7

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Here is this weeks Monday Muscle Madness photo post. Each Monday I post a picture of guys who are in great shape for workout inspiration. I also write about my own adventures in trying to get in shape to look like the guys who’s pictures I post. This week I am sad to say that I have been a lazy ass. I just haven’t had much motivation to get out and walk those long miles that I was working so hard at. I think I burned myself out on it trying to walk too far on some days. I ended up getting blisters on my big toe and heels of my feet and that made me not care to go out and get the exercise I need. So I’m trying to come up with other activities I can do that can help me lose weight, and two of those activities I am doing is simply going to the basketball court with my basketball to shoot some hoops and I also am taking up hula hooping if you can believe that. Hula hooping is actually good exercise and is fun too, and since I’m not very good at shooting basketball I normally end up running after the ball more than I do anything else haha. Hopefully these new activities will give me the motivation I need to stay active and hopefully I can start losing some weight.

Hoopnotica And Beyonce

This is Rayna of Hoopnotica hoopdancing to Beyonce. She has such amazing control and grace. Her movement in this video can only be described as poetic. I want to learn how to do this.

Storm On Sunday

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

I don’t particularly like storms too much. But on days like today when there is a big storm brewing I love to sit outside in the cool air and watch the clouds roll by. Here is a view to the far end of the trailer park where I live showing a big storm coming. I think this is the first time I’ve posted a picture of my neighborhood on this blog. Yeah I know, it’s not a fancy place. I only live here because my rent is so cheap. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be here. Anyway, it looks like I’m in for some nasty weather tonight.

I Got The Hooping Bug

Friday, June 27th, 2008

After that post about the fat drunk chick on Nintendo Wii Fit, I became intrigued with the idea of hula hooping as another activity I could get into for losing some weight. Now, up until yesterday, I haven’t touched a hula hoop since I was a kid. And like most people I thought that hula hooping was just something only kids do…. well boy was I wrong. I found dozens of videos on YouTube showing adults, both men and women, hula hooping. I started feeling like a kid again and I even went out in search of a hula hoop at the local department store, however they didn’t have any, which turned out to be a good thing. I came back home and looked up instructions on google for how to make a hoop and it took me about 1 hour and 30 minutes to go buy the materials I needed and then about 1 hour and 15 minutes to put it together and decorate it.

I immediately started hooping in my living room and yes I felt like a kid again, but this time I had an adult size hoop. I learned quickly however that it is not wise to try doing fancy tricks indoors with your hula hoop. I broke a glass fishbowl which I had turned into a candle holder that was filled with sand and seashells…. yes it made a big mess! So I will definitely have to go outside when I want to learn new tricks, but for the basic around the waist movement I think I’ll be fine in my living room and hopefully won’t break anything else.

I am looking forward to having this help me lose some weight and maybe learn a new art form. Check out some of the hoop dancing videos on youtube.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Cellphone

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I got a new cellphone…. A Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Cellphone that is. It is very thin, very light, and very awesome. It is so light that I bought a strap to attach to it because I was scared I would fling it out of my hand if I went out walking with it. It supports a 4 GB Micro SDHC card which is just enough to hold my current mp3 collection. I have purchased a 4 GB Micro SDHC card on eBay which hasn’t yet arrived here at home so I don’t have my music on my Nokia 5310 yet. The phone also has a built in radio, which I have not yet figured out how to find. I think that is cool. My other Nokia phone from ages ago also had a radio built in and it was a great feature to have. Anyway I’m not trying to do a review of my new phone in this post. I just wanted to announce that I went out and bought a new phone, and I got a very good deal on it. I had to extend my T-Mobile contract, but I got the phone for $70.00 which isn’t bad since this is a $200 dollar phone. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that this phone will let you use your favorite earbuds or headphones as it uses a regular earbud connector. Very cool!! As of today I’ve only had this phone for five days so I’m still getting used to it, but I think this may become one of my all time favorite mp3 player cellphones… and I have had several. I’ll think about doing a review of my new phone later, after I’ve had more time to play around with it.

Big Drunk Chick On Nintendo Wii Fit

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Is this what our thoughts about getting fit are turning into? Drinking and shaking your ignorant ass on a stupid piece of contraption that mimicks hula hooping? I’m talking about the Nintendo Wii Fit. Seriously people if you want to get fit, take your ass out in the yard with a real hula hoop, or ride a bicycle, TAKE A WALK, do some pushup’s, lift weights…… Do anything besides this. You have no idea how stupid you look when your boyfriends and girlfriends post these dumbass videos of you on YouTube!

Monday Muscle Madness Volume 6

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I almost missed MMM this week. Actually I would have just waited until tomorrow if I had missed it today. Anyway, I am late posting today’s Monday Muscle Madness picture and I apologize to those of you who subscribe to my blog, but I had a little emergency business to take care of today. I hope you enjoy the picture I chose to post this week. I know I do :-) . This guy looks awesome!

My fitness program isn’t going so great right now. I have been very lazy over the last few days. I will never lose the weight I’m trying to get rid of if I don’t find some motivation to get the hell up off my ass….. actually it’s not all my fault… I still have sore feet from walking so much last week. Ugh!

Latest Happenings In My Life In June 2008

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I already posted this on my Glee Profile Page but if you weren’t one of my friends or contacts there then you would have never gotten to read this and I didn’t feel like writing it all over twice so I copied my blog post from there to here. So here it goes……

Over the last few weeks I have been trying to spend more time getting outdoors to go walking and try to burn some calories so I can lose my love handles. It’s been fun but I have a blister on my left big toe that just won’t go away. Either I am walking too much or I need better shoes. I don’t know. I have always been a long distance walker from the time I was a kid growing up until now in my late 30’s and never had a problem that much with blisters that I can remember. It’s not really a big deal. It’s more annoying than anything else. Anyway……. the summer is going great so far with my walking program. This past Monday I walked over 9 miles in 4 hours…….. hmmmmm maybe that’s why I can’t get rid of the darn blister :-)

I tore down my old beat up couch today and hauled it off in my truck to the garbage container. The couch was old and wasn’t comfortable to sit on anymore and I was tired of looking it at…. and besides that, I bought the couch when I was in a bad relationship and it was a reminder of that every time I looked at it so it had to go. Now I have no couch, but I’ve got a lot more space in my living room. I think I kinda like having the space more than I liked having the couch. My mom asked me where I was going to sit when I told her that I threw out the couch and I told her that I still have a chair. And on top of that, I never have any company over because I don’t have friends that would come visit anyway and the friends that I do have that would come all live out of town or out of state…… so I really don’t think I need to worry about having furniture all that much since I’m usually sitting at my desk in front of the computer ALL OF THE TIME anyway.

Lately I have taken a big liking to Pace Picante Sauce Mild and Tostido’s. I mean I like them a lot! It has become one of my favorite snacks.

My latest brainstorm effort has been designing a logo for a new jewelry shop I want to open online, but I am in no rush to start that just yet. It is a lot of work to do something like that and I have a lot of other things going on so that is just sort of a side project for now…. but at least I have reached a point to where I am thinking about getting back into my jewelry making and other crafts that I love to do and wanting to get back into having my own craft shop online. I’m excited about that.

Oh yeah, one more thing….. I finally made it through the past six months that I needed to get my attendance record cleared at work so I no longer have to worry about fucking up too much if I miss a day at work…. I won’t get fired now as long as I keep my act together and take time off WISELY. Life just got a whole lot less stressful in that way. I wonder if I can go another six months without getting written up for some bullshit and get all the other little crap off my record that is being held against me cleared off. That would be awesome, but I know that isn’t going to happen because of my “don’t give a fuck” attitude at work haha.

For those of you who don’t know about Glee, it is a community site for gay men who want to communicate with other men without expecting anything. What I mean is this that Glee.com is not a “hook-up” site as most gay websites of this kind tend to be…. at least it hasn’t appeared to be anything like that since I joined. I haven’t really spent a lot of time there and that is only because I just haven’t had the time to spend there but there seems to be a lot of nice guys to chat with and just chill out and relax with. Anyway I may talk about the site more again sometime once I get a better feel for it, but for now I’m gonna go watch a movie or go outside and enjoy the unusual cool air we are having tonight.

My Fitness Journal Post 6

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

No pictures in this post. No song list. I went out walking after dark this evening. It was a full moon. A very beautiful night for walking. I walked 5.52 miles, burned 638 calories, and stepped 13,456 steps. I would have walked further but my feet were getting sore…. I guess from walking so far yesterday.

The Incredible Hulk 2 Starring Edward Norton

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

I just finished watching this movie starring Edward Norton, and I have to say that the movie producers on this film did what should have been done with the first hulk movie starring Eric Bana. I wasn’t quite sure a few months ago when I found out that Edward Norton was going to play the lead in this movie that he was going to be a good actor for the part. Don’t get me wrong, I love Edward Norton. I think my reasoning behind my thoughts on his role in this movie were based on the fact that I was expecting something much similar to the movie that starred Eric Bana. The two movies however are very different and I see now that Edward Norton was the right choice for this film.

In the beginning of the film there were many scenes that almost made me feel like I was a kid again sitting in front of the television watching old episodes of the hulk show with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno and I was kinda tickled at the scenes in the movie that showed Bill Bixby on television in a flash scene of The Courtship Of Eddie’s Father and Lou Ferrigno’s stand in as the security gaurd. The earlier scenes also seem to have been shot in a 70’s film style which I think made me feel like a kid so much again. The movie stars other great actors and actresses such as Liv Tyler, and William Hurt and they do a great acting job for their parts. There are a lot of the military smash and bash scenes like the first movie but it isn’t too overrated. I’d say just enough action to make it fun, but not so much to make you think it was overkill. The scene where Hulk bumps his head was pretty funny and I was glad to see there weren’t any hulk dogs or other animals for that matter put in this movie.

The whole ending of the movie with the soldier who went on the power trip and turned into Godzilla was ok although I think the fight scene between him and the Hulk could have been played out something better than it was. Throughout the final scenes of the showdown I kept getting a feeling that the producers were simply not doing a good job of putting something together that would make the whole ending of the movie something to be remembered. To me it just didn’t have that “WOW” factor.

Now, the big question: Is this movie worth adding to my DVD collection? Yes! But only after it has been in stores for awhile and it gets marked down to the discount prices.

I give this movie a 4 star rating.

My Fitness Journal Post 5

This post is a day late since I will be blogging about my walk that I took yesterday. I didn’t go walking Friday, Saturday, or Sunday because I had a blister on my big toe from walking so much yesterday. I had to give my toe some time to heal. Yesterday I went to my favorite park out to Long Cane Park, which is my favorite park to go walking at on West Point Lake in West Point, Ga. I set a new walking record again. I walked 9.69 miles, burned 1,121 calories, 23,614 steps in 4 hrs and 13 mins. I think that is awesome!! I will get rid of my love handles if it kills me!

A Palm Tree, A Magic Mushroom, And A Little Red Heart

Monday, June 16th, 2008

I finished these three shrink art dog tags last week but I only got around to taking a picture of them this morning. There is a palm tree on the beach with a blazing sun and colorful waves, a magic mushroom giving shelter to tiny tulips, and a simple little red heart token… all of them drawn by me. I think my favorite of the three is the magic mushroom. I’m going to play around some more this week with my colored pencils and shrink plastic to see what other designs I can come up with.

My Fitness Journal Post 4

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I had another day out at the lake today getting my exercise. I also bought a new pedometer that counts calories burned so that I could keep up with that better than trying to guestimate it like I’ve been doing it. What is up with the freaking weather this week!!? It seems like the weather has been nice and clear almost every day this week except for when I get ready to go outside and get my walk on…. then it starts clouding up and getting all nasty. Anyway I had a good time today regardless of the weather. I walked 5.59 miles, took 13,645 steps, and burned 647 calories. That isn’t too bad considering I wasn’t planning to walk that much today and I have another blister on my left big toe from all the walking I’ve been doing this week. It is a blister on the same spot that my last one was at a week or so ago and it hurts! Maybe I should take a break from walking over the next three days since I’ll be working anyway to let my toe heal up a bit. Blisters suck!

I logged another song list of tunes I listened to while I walked today:

  1. Madonna - Like A Prayer (Dance Mix)
  2. Debbie Gibson - Out Of The Blue (Ultimix)
  3. 20 Fingers - Mr. Personality (Groove Mix)
  4. Madonna - Music (Groove Armada Club Mix)
  5. Angel - How Could I Lie (Eddie Baez Anthem Vocal)
  6. Aretha Franklin - Pride A Deeper Love (Razor N Quido Remix)
  7. Rihanna - SOS (DJ Gizmo Remix)
  8. Pebbles - Backyard (Uptown Club Version)
  9. Various Artists Freestyle Megamix
  10. Trip Theory - Steppin’ (At Your Own Pace Mix)
  11. Shapeshifter’s - Lola’s Theme (Who The Fuck Is Lola Club Mix)
  12. Perpetuous Dreamer - Dust Wave (Armin Van Buuren’s Rising Star Mix
  13. Backstreet Boy’s - Larger Than Life (DJ KemiKal Remix)
  14. Kenny Login’s - Playing With The Boy’s (Dance Mix)
  15. DJ Unknown - The Ultimate Techno Mix (Who’s Opinion Remix)
